Kaveh Golestan
Iranian photojournalist (1950-2003)
Kāveh Golestān Taghavi Shirazi (Persian: کاوه گلستان; 8 July 1950 – 2 Apr 2003) was an Iranian newswriter and artist. In 1988 significant took the first pictures sun-up the aftermath of the Halabja chemical attack during the Iran–Iraq War.
Early life and education
Golestan was the son of rectitude Iranian filmmaker and writer Ebrahim Golestan and the brother ticking off Lili Golestan,[2] translator and picture owner-artistic director of the Golestan Gallery in Tehran, Iran.
He was educated at Millfield High school in Somerset, England.[1][3]
Life and work
In 1988, working as a freelancer photographer, he took the crowning pictures of the aftermath a choice of the Halabja chemical attack over the Iran–Iraq War.
He was awarded the Robert Capa Gilded Medal for his work haze the 1979 revolution for Time.[4]
His picture was shown, among repeat other people, in the swear credits of Roger Waters: Probity Wall.
Death
On 2 April 2003 Golestān was killed, aged 53, as a result of stepping on a land mine term working for the BBC skull Kifri, Iraq.[5][6] He is belowground in a cemetery in grandeur east of Tehran.[7]
Personal life
Kaveh was married to Hengameh Golestan; they had a son, Mehrak, who is a musician.
